ACT’s Certification Program for TDM Professionals
The role of the TDM professional continues to expand with increased congestion in urban cores, mobility challenges in rural and developing regions, the growth of new business districts, shifting commuter patterns, demand for convenience, the development of technologies that have created more mobility options, and now in response to and recovery planning related to the pandemic.
TDM-CP lays the foundation for ensuring that highly qualified individuals are available to meet the challenge of addressing the diverse needs of commuters, communities, and employers.

The purpose of the TDM Certified Professional (TDM-CP) program is to:

Recognize and provide an incentive for individuals to continually improve their knowledge of TDM concepts, policies, and practices;

Enhance individual professional development goals and skills;

Promote continuing education of relevant subject matter that is evidence-based; and
-
Demonstrate a TDM professional’s competency by developing a standard for assessment and measurement of knowledge by and through formal examination.
ACT recognizes certification as the highest achievement within the field of TDM. TDM-CPs are expected to represent and advance the field of TDM through this achievement. Certification signals that a candidate has demonstrated a professional competence in the key content domains that have been identified through the comprehensive jobs analysis study. Professionals who hold the certification will be included in a register on the ACT website and will be permitted to use the TDM-CP designation.
To ensure professionals receiving certification continue at the highest level of the profession, recertification, comprising of professional development and industry leadership is required every two years.
Eligibility Requirements
To become a candidate for the TDM-CP credential, applicants must meet the following education and experience criteria detailed in the Candidate Handbook.
